About Vae Victis
The name Vae Victis is Latin for "Woe to the conquered". It's a favorite saying of mine that Kain from Legacy of Kain often shouts when he's got the bloodlust going and is impaling enemies.
This is nothing but a journal for me, V. I'm just a girl with a nervous tendency to overthink how badly I can screw myself over when a Zombie Apocalypse happens. So far my biggest concern is how slow I am about fetching my keys from my purse in order to unlock my front door.
I'm also a staff writer at Girl Gamers Suck.com. We do a news feed throughout the day and also write about topics that tickle our fancy, Nancy. Mine's usually about the inner struggle a character feels throughout the game, or an analysis on the plot. I'm a geek.
Because this is my website, I'm allowed to toot my own horn and push my stuff down your throat. Here's some featured writing's of mine that I wrote for GGS, and they're worth a look!
Review of Greed: Black Border
Assassin's Creed II Plot Analysis
Snake? SNAAAKE! Metal Gear Movie Is A No Go
Silent Hill Plot Guide And Analysis

No, nobody has asked me these questions, but I figured I'd take the initative.
Why don't you allow commenting on your blog?
I got rid of commenting because I have a strong sense of pride and ego. It'd pain me to have 0 comments because I'm aware that blogs are everywhere. For the most part, my personal friends read this website so I often get their feedback in person. Which can present some problems since I often think of censorship if I want to talk about somebody, but life's not worth a big TMI message to spare someone's feelings.
Additionally, I'm old fashioned and operate under the guise of mystery and a bit of work on your part, so if you like what you read, then let me know of your existance.
Is your name really V?
I wish! V is such a badass consonant. It's also sharp and looks like it can cut your eyeball if you read enough consummate V's in one sentence. But nay, V is just an online alias, stemming from my World of Warcraft name of Vehementi. I don't like to use my real name on the internets because I'm all about Stranger Danger.
You kind of intimidate me
I know. It's all in your head, though.
What inspired me to make this layout?
I'm always interested in what goes into a design, besides the actual guts involving CSS and PHP. You can't do this kind of work in complete silence, or without a break to watch a movie. There must be something influencing the creation in some way. Whilst making Vae Victis, I've had these songs loop ad naseum. You may laugh at how they don't go well together at all, but I'll attempt to make an effort explaining why I was inspired.
Max Richter On The Nature Of Daylight Listen to the song
: Shutter Island is a beautiful film. It reminded me more of a Silent Hill game than the actual Silent Hill movie, although that interpretation was still well done. When I make websites, it's really hard to concentrate when I have background music with singing. I tend to focus on the words too much, and I get distracted. So, that's why I was drawn to this song, although it's so sad and beautiful. I promise I'm not someone who just listens to sad instrumentals, but I just dig ambience when I'm trying to be creative.
Nightwish The Siren Listen to the song
: And just to be a hypocrite, here's a song that's without any ambience. I'm a huge Nightwish fan, and consequently it's led me to love the Finnish culture and language. It's funny -- normally I get into bands once they're broken up, or most of the members are dead, but Nightwish is surprisingly still touring and making albums. Maybe one day I'll be lucky to see them live.
Beats Antique Nau Ashta Listen to the song
: I took belly dancing for awhile. I was the youngest member, and also the skinniest, and the whole experience was so much fun. This song is so sensual and laid back, and I still dance to this by myself, and I'm unashamed!
The font that I used for the links is called The King & Queen and it can be downloaded at Dafont.com. No special brush works were used in the making of this layout, for once. I just drew a bunch of swirls and smoke effects, merged two images together, and hastily used the 'colorize' option in my Paint Shop Pro. I wanted something vibrant and colorful, although that wasn't my intent when I first started to make a new layout.
I wanted something dark, and black, but I think looking at that type of website for too long would make anyone into a moody bear. Instead, I'm throwing rainbows and pastels at you, and hopefully it'll have a calming effect on you.

Vae Victis is the brain child and consequently a yeti of a website bent on devouring code and my brain. It's a shoddy writing portfolio that moonlights as a blog, but really, it's just a lazy journal with questionable morals and merits. Vae Victis is part of the Anchor's Away! network hosted at Oh!Piratey.
